COMSOL in electrochemical applications
Published in 2013
Microstructures such as holes, grooves, microchannels, and surface texture are essential geometric profiles for micro-components. Burs can cause interference, affect the positioning of processing, and influence the quality and surface appearance of the structure. Electrochemical machining (ECM) is a method of manufacturing that removes metal by electrochemical process instead of conventional machining methods. Using COMSOL Multiphysics®, we simulated the ECM process and modeled the electric field distribution in microporous holes. We compared two cathode tools, modeling the current density distribution and the concentricity for each.
