Modelling Rayleigh Scattering Loss in Arbitrary Profile Fibers
Published in 2019
Rayleigh scattering loss (RSL) is the major contributor to optical fiber’s attenuation. Hence prediction of its value is very important from designer’s perspective. In literature, there are few reports on RSL models, but those mainly consider step-index fiber profiles. In this paper, we have presented a model to calculate RSL of arbitrary profile fiber, with a graded-index profile as an example.
