Stress Analysis on All-Ceramic Specimens of Different Geometries During Thermalcycling Tests
Published in 2015
Dental restorations can be made by different materials bonded together, which grant good mechanical resistance and aesthetic at the same time. In order to evaluate the behavior of dental restorations in the oral environment, a test, called thermocycler, is used, which simulates the temperature changes and the chemical environment of the mouth. The objective of this work is to evaluate thermal stresses created during a thermocycler test in the interface between two different materials. The stresses at the interface are particularly important, since they should not exceed the bonding strength between the layers. The software COMSOL Multiphysics was used to analyse residual thermal stresses for two different samples geometries.
