Hotfix 1 for COMSOL®6.1 Update 2.1

Security hotfix for web browser components
This security update addresses a potential vulnerability in the web browser component present in COMSOL®, COMSOL Runtime™, and COMSOL Client. The Chromium™ web browser component in COMSOL® 6.1 Update 2.1 for Windows has multiple potential vulnerabilities (for instance: https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2023-4863). This update upgrades the web browser component to Chromium 117.0.5938.150, which fixes the currently known vulnerabilities.
System requirements: This update can only be applied to COMSOL® 6.1 Update 2.1. An up-to-date version of Windows 10 or 11 is required. Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are not supported for this update.Installation
This hotfix only applies to 6.1 update 2.1 (Build 357).
COMSOL Multiphysics®
For Windows®, follow these steps:
- Make sure that you have the latest version, 6.1 update 2.1 (Build 357), installed. Start 6.1 update 2.1. On the File menu, choose Help and then click About COMSOL Multiphysics. Verify that the version is 6.1 and that the build is 357.
- Download the file comsol_6.1.0.357_win.exe.
- Double-click the downloaded executable file to launch the installer and click Next to initiate the installation.
- On the Select Destination Folder tab, specify your current COMSOL® installation directory, for example,
C:\Program Files\COMSOL\COMSOL61\Multiphysics
. Click Next. - Click Install and Close.
COMSOL Runtime™
For Windows®, follow these steps:
- Make sure that you have the latest version, 6.1 update 2.1 (Build 357), installed. Start 6.1 update 2.1. By default, the installation directory for COMSOL Runtime contains the full version number (in this case, it would be
C:\Program Files\COMSOL\COMSOL61\Runtime\6.1.0.357
). Alternatively, navigate to the installation directory in Windows Explorer, and, in the subdirectorybin\win64
, right-click the file comsolapplication.exe and select Properties>Details. Verify that the product version is 6.1.0.357. - Download the file comsol_6.1.0.357_win_runtime.exe.
- Double-click the downloaded executable file to launch the installer and click Next to initiate the installation.
- On the Select Destination Folder tab, specify your current COMSOL® installation directory, for example,
C:\Program Files\COMSOL\COMSOL61\Runtime\6.1.0.357
. Click Next. - Click Install and Close.
COMSOL Client
For Windows®, follow these steps:
- Make sure that you have the latest version, 6.1 update 2.1 (Build 357), installed. Navigate to the installation directory in Windows Explorer, and, in the subdirectory
bin\win64
, right-click the file comsolclient.exe and select Properties>Details. Verify that the version is 6.1 and that the build is 357. - Download the file comsol_6.1.0.357_win_client.exe.
- Double-click the downloaded executable file to launch the installer and click Next to initiate the installation.
- On the Select Destination Folder tab, specify your current COMSOL® installation directory, for example,
C:\Program Files\COMSOL\COMSOL61\Client
. Click Next. - Click Install and Close.
