Problem Description
When updating the COMSOL model library, I get the following message:
Error contacting the update server
Solution
Please check your internet connection. If you think your internet connection is fine, you are maybe connected through a proxy server. Follow these instructions if that is the case.
Starting with version 5.1, the proxy settings are shared for the update functionality and the documentation. (For the documentation, it is used if the Source location is set to Online)
- From the File menu in COMSOL Multiphysics, choose Preferences and select the Help section.
- Under Proxy settings for communication with COMSOL's Model Library Update Server, change the configuration to "Use system settings".
- Click OK.
- Restart COMSOL Multiphysics.
If this does not resolve the problem, change the configuration to "Manual". Contact your system administrator to get the appropriate HTTPS protocol settings for the proxy host address (Server) and the proxy port number (Port number). The default port number is 443, which is the default for HTTP secure (HTTPS). If the proxy server requires authentication, you will be asked to provide username and password the first time you run Model Library Update in each COMSOL session.
If the above suggestions should not work, an alternative solution is to ask your IT department to add the URL https://secure.comsol.com/update/models/ to the list of hosts for which to bypass the proxy.
