1D Plot: Legend in background or transparent

Hello,

I have a 1D plot with many lines in it. I have no free space for the legend, so that it is always covering some of my lines. Of course, I want to see the lines and the legend. :)

Is there a way to bring the legend box behind the lines or to change the background of the legend box to transparent?

If I use the "Snapshot" function, I can set the plot background as transparent. But I can't see the lines which would be usually behind the legend box.
